I have some exciting news! My show won a CONDA (City Of Newcastle Drama Association) AWARD last night for "Best Special Theatrical Event of 2018". I feel so excited and honoured as it was up against some very big shows!

I really do appreciate that my work is recognised as "theatre" and I would like to thank CONDA Inc and The CONDA Judges.

LUNCHEON WITH LOCAL LEGENDS:

When arriving at yesterdays gig I discovered that part of my MC duties was to interview Billy Peden! Some nerves set in as my knowledge of footy is very limited. But it turns out that I didn't have to worry - It is obvious that Billy has done more than a few interviews and the segment flowed smoothly. Bill spoke about the 1997 Newcastle Knights Grand Final win and his work these days as an Ambassador for 'Charlies Run For Kids' and 'The Mark Hughes Foundation'.

Also speaking at the Lunch was Red Bull Air Race Pilot Mr Matt Hall.

I can now say that I have worked in a show with 3500 people in the cast! I was the Special Guest Artist at this years "StarStruck" production "Connected" at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre!

It was a great thrill to be involved with a Spectacular of this scale.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FOUR DAY CENTRAL COAST CIRCUS CONVENTION (CFA) – MAY 2018

• New Circus Fans Of Australia members and Central Coast locals Rachel and Andy Long (“Round About Circus”) gave an interesting talk on their time teaching circus overseas and introduced us to the concept of “Social Circus”. This was followed by an impromptu performance of Juggling and Hula Hoops out on the grass.

• Robert Pankhurst also demonstrated his horsemanship skills for us outdoors with a horse that could sit, roll over and even walk the plank.

• I presented a one man show after dinner on Saturday evening that ended with a standing ovation from most of the audience - I felt a lump in my throat at this response!! Such a special moment getting that sort of encouragement from folks who I admire so much. A great thrill!!

• Dr Mark St Leon gave a very informative talk on Sunday morning that took us right back to the beginning of circus in Ancient Rome – fascinating stuff. Thank you Mark!!

• Also on the Sunday was guest Speaker Dr Gillian Arrighi who spoke about how she became involved with circus (researching Fitzgerald Brothers) and her vision and the benefits of “teaching circus” to youngsters.

• The Sunday’s activities concluded with a visit to “INFAMOUS” – an adults only circus spectacular that was conveniently showing in the Mingara area. My partner Renee also joined us for this experience.

• This morning’s events wrapped up with a presentation from Mr Tom Dumpleton. Tom could give us first hand stories of what it was like to travel with a “big show” in the days when the circus would travel by train.

Yes - tonight they laughed at me! But it was OK because I was working at a Comedy Club Night. I enjoyed this change of setting and found the gig to be good fun!

The show is a variety spectacular titled “Amazing” that will be showing at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre Warners Bay on the 5^th May 2018.

‘AMAZING’ will be a spectacular mix of Illusion, Circus, Magic, Comedy, Audience Participation and Las Vegas Style Stage Illusions! Best of all – the entire production is family friendly and can be enjoyed by children from 4 to 104!
