Thank you to all the venues that hosted my performances during the January / Christmas Holidays. I managed to magically "appear and disappear" at 39 shows since Christmas at Newcastle, Central Coast, Sydney, Canberra and Mid North Coast venues!

Please keep an eye on this Facebook page as I have exciting things happening this year. Coming up soon:
* A performance tour of New Zealand next month.
* Working with Primary School Educators and using my skills in writing, theatre and puppets to produce a very specific educational program that will visit selected schools in Maitland, Raymond Terrace and Dungog.
* Involved in bringing a big International Magic Spectacular to Australia - more on this announcement soon.
I'm so very grateful for each opportunity! I even enjoy the challenges and behind the scenes work too!

Happy Australia Day Everyone!

Here is a very "Aussie" version of The Indian Rope Trick - A feat of magic that many magical scholars have argued over the years "could not be done".
With the help of my dear old friend and mentor Jim Mc Keague we performed this mystery successfully on the Atherton Tablelands of Far North Queensland and instead of a small Indian boy climbing the rope we used a "Tree Roo".
A Tree Roo looks like a Kangaroo but is the size of a possum. It is not an endangered species but they are threatened due to loss of habitat, attacks from domestic dogs etc.
"Zoe" the Tree Roo that was assisting me enjoyed the experience and no training was needed as the animals natural instinct is to climb to the highest point - climbing to the top of a rope was a perfectly natural exercise for her.
A couple of things to note when looking at the photos below:
- The lady in the photo with me is Dr Karen Coombs. She is the world's leading expert on Tree Roos.
- The photo in the field shows me making the rope rise in an empty space with no trees or buildings assisting me in causing the magical effect to happen.
- These pics are not 'photo shopped'.
If you wish to learn more about the thoughts and theories that Jim McKeague had on the Indian Rope Trick, I invite you to visit:

A big thank you to everyone who came to see my show at Richmond School Of Arts Theatre yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed the show as much as I enjoyed performing it for you!

"We had such a great time! The show was dynamic, funny, engaging and especially magical! My kids faces of astonishment and happiness were a delight to see. Joel is an amazing artist. I definitely recommend this show"

This afternoon I had the honour of performing at Nic and Louise's Central Coast Wedding.

I presented 'Close Up Strolling Magic' to amuse and amaze the guests, after the ceremony and formalities. There was a very enthusiastic response and lots of lovely complements about the performances!
I always enjoy performing at Weddings and can custom design entertainment options (including Wedding MC Services, Close Up Walk Around Magic and Floor Shows) to suit the needs of the Bride and Groom and the vibe of the Wedding!

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be back at Richmond School Of Arts Theatre during the Christmas holidays! I will be bringing an ALL NEW SHOW complete with a live rabbit, award-winning sleight of hand and audience participation!

Thanks so much to all the Corporations, Entertainment Agencies and Venues who had me perform at their Christmas Parties and end of year functions this year. I found myself doing multiple shows each day since early November and I had a blast!
